Samos Food

At samosfood.gr you will find detailed traditional recipes from 4 famous chefs of the island (Andreas Lagos, Evangelos Bilimbas, Aslanis Panterlis and Vasileios Skourfountas) and 50 shorter videos (one minute long) of the preparation of traditional foods, sweets and drinks categorized in the corresponding sections. In the “Application” section from the main menu you can download the augmented reality applications for Android and iOS with more information about celebrations, attractions, latest news and routes related to gastronomy.

Vourliotis Cheese Factory

The “Vourliotis” cheese factory, based in Mytilini, Samos, was founded in 1999 by Argyris Vourliotis. It is the only cheese factory in Samos whose products are made exclusively from fresh Samian milk. It combines tradition with modern technology and excellent hygiene conditions, offering the consumer pure, quality dairy products such as Graviera, White Brine Cheese, Anthotyro, Armogalo, Trachana, Cow and Sheep Yogurt, Rice Milk and Vanilla Cream. The production manager is Niki Argyris Vourliotis, a cheesemaker – graduate of the Dairy College of Ioannina. The cheese factory applies the HACCP quality assurance system.

Samos Beer

“Samos Beer”, the only brewery on the island, is located in Pythagoreio. The brewery of Dimitris Vamvakas and Irene Velakouli has been operating since 2023. The production includes dozens of different beers, the most famous of which is Valsamo Ale. The Samos Beer premises can be visited for guided tours, which emphasize the production of beer from pure ingredients but also the rich history of our island.

BeeLoveSamos

BeeLoveSamos® operates in the settlement of Mytilini in a neat and well-equipped space where quality honey is produced by applying traditional, sustainable methods. It is the longest-running natural honey production in Samos, faithful to the family beekeeping activity since 1949. The BeeLoveSamos® space can be visited upon request.

Tomaccini

Tomaccini (olive-type cherry tomatoes) is produced in Samos in a specially designed cup by the company Hellenic Greenhouses “EL. THE. S.A.” with the most widespread hydroponics method in the world, that in Grodan rock wool. Samian tomaccini is available in local supermarkets and nationwide from AB VASILOPOULOS.

Ouzo Frantzeskos

“Ouzo Frantzeskos” is over 100 years old, with the family recipe passed down from father to son, based on which Frantzeskos Spirit was also created in two varieties 3* and 5* with aging in oak barrels and with 100% natural color. Ouzo Frantzeskos is produced in a separate building of approximately 900 sq.m., under particularly strict conditions under which all procedures are carried out with meticulous observance of hygiene rules, both for the distillery and for the marketing sector, confirmed by the quality assurance certificates for the implementation of the HACCP and ISO systems granted by the company TUV HELLAS (TÜVNORD) S.A.

The K. Klironomou family has been involved in the production of aromatic plants and essential oils since 1970 in collaboration with professors from the University of Thessaloniki and agronomists from Samos. Guided by traditions and with a sense of responsibility towards the environment and consumers, it produces pure and superior quality products 100% from the Samian land, organically certified by the DIO organization.
